2007 Pocket Aces Syrah

The stone cold nuts. Matchless Syrah grapes handpicked from preeminent small lots on the Osoyoos Bench. 90% free run. Minimally pressed. Respectfully untouched by mechanical pumps. Casked in French and American oak for 18 months. Savour now, or cellar up to 10 years.

John Schreiner: "This is a muscular, brooding red, beginning with gamy aromas of deli meats. On the palate, there are flavours of plum and prune with a nice peppery accent. The wine is full-bodied and concentrated, but it presents its power elegantly."

Intense ruby-coloured core with pinkish rim; clean nose with intense, rich and ripe aroma of black fruit. Herbaceous notes of green pepper, rosemary, and sage. Aroma develops to espresso, caramel and chorizo. Full body provides an intense mouth feel. Superbly balanced, with moderate to high acid levels. High, supple tannin. Long, satisfying finish. 14.2% alcohol.

2007 Pocket Kings Red

The real deal. A complex and textured Bordeaux-style blend of hand selected grapes from small lots on the Osoyoos and Black Sage benches. Impressive now, or cellarable up to seven years.

John Schreiner: "A polished wine built around 66% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. On the palate, there is a delicious core of sweet fruit - black cherry with a hint of mocha. The tannins are long and ripe. The wine has the structure to cellar well even though it tastes so good right now."

Fruity and elegant. Intense garnet core with thin light red rim. Clean nose with moderate blackberry and black cherry aromas, and greenish vegetal and herbaceous notes (green and black pepper and menthol). Ripe dark fruit aroma - almost floral, but with tobacco and dusty leather undertones. Medium body with moderate intensity. Smooth tannin. Impressive balance of fruit acidity and structure culminating in a refined finish. 13.6% alcohol.

2008 Seven Deuce Shiraz/Cab

The stuff of bluff. Go ahead - proclaim to all that you anted up large for this one. This Syrah/Cab Sauv/Cab Franc blend is so tasty, no one will call your bluff. Incredible value in a big wine sourced from the same, micro-managed Osoyoos small lots as our premium reds. Barrel aged for 14 months. Cellarable for 10 years.

Complex flavours of dark chocolate, vanilla and wild berries, coffee and leather at the mid-palate, and a looong, smooooth finish. The perfect accompaniment to peppery, grilled steaks, sizzling sausages and (there it is again) chocolate. Crazy value at less than twenty bucks. What more could you ask? 13.7% alcohol.

2008 Pocket Queens Chardonnay

A real lady. Noble grapes begat this regal wine, proferring a light straw hue to the eyes and a bowlful of fruit to the nose and tongue.

John Schreiner: "This unoaked Chardonnay begins with fresh fruity aromas of pineapple and banana. On the palate, the flavours are rich in citrus notes. The finish is crisp."

Rich, ripe and bursting flavours of kiwi, mango and passion fruit, citrus, Bartlett pear and Golden Delicious apple. Luscious aromas and nose. Full mouth feel with moderate intensity. Very long and delightful fruity finish. 13.5% alcohol.
